Dr. Thomas Chi joined the UCSF faculty of the Department of Urology in 2013. His clinical interests included the care of patients with urinary stone disease and those in need of minimally invasive surgery. He also supervises an NIH-funded translational science lab where he leads a cross-disciplinary research team focusing on genetic and microbial environment of the kidney related to stone formation.   Read more...

Dr. David Tzou joined Dr. Chi's research team in fall 2015. He is a board certified Urologist with clinical interests in urinary stone disease and men with benign prostatic hyperplasia. His research focuses on improving the clinical management of kidney stones and developing a prospective registry for kidney stone research.   Read more...

 

 

Postdoctoral Fellow in Endourology

Dr. Kazumi Taguchi is a postdoctoral fellow from Nagoya City University, Nagoya, Japan. He joined Dr. Chi's research team in summer 2016 and leads an effort in genomic study of kidney stone disease. He also conducts studies in durability and efficacy of flexible ureteroscope, which is a surgical instrument commonly used to treat small stones in kidney or ureter.   Read more...

Former Research Fellow in Endourology

Dr. Manint Usawachintachit was Dr. Chi's research fellow from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. He joined Dr. Chi's research team from 2015-2017. Under Dr. Chi's supervision, he conducted several clinical studies in ultrasound guidance for kidney stone surgery and application of ultrasound contrast in urology practice.   Read more...
